NEXT CONCERT

Saturday 29 June 2024 at 7.30pm
St. Michael’s Church, Flower Lane NW7 2JA see map
Includes music by Chilcott and Rutter, as well as Madrigals both old and new.

Bob Chilcott’s Little Jazz Mass comfortably blends a setting of the mass with jazz rhythms, in turn lively, gentle and bluesy. We hear echoes of the King’s Singers as well as Bob Chilcott’s experience of working with acclaimed jazz musicians.

As a contrast, there will be Madrigals, both new and old, some of which may well be familiar, but perhaps not in these arrangements. A set of three by the American composer Emma Lou Diemer sensitively sets words from Shakespeare plays.

The traditional songs set by John Rutter under the intriguing title of The Sprig of Thyme may have a familiar ring. This suite of folk-songs has a rather nostalgic feel and is likely to have audience members humming along with them.
