We are very pleased to be performing Brahms’ wonderful Ein deutsches Requiem (German Requiem) with piano duet accompaniment played by Ben Markovic (our new rehearsal accompanist) and Pan Xiao. Natalka Pasicznk (Soprano) and Alex Jones (Baritone) will join us as soloists, with Tom Winpenny conducting.

The Requiem is unusual in that the words are not from the Latin mass but were chosen by Brahms from the Lutheran Bible. Its focus is to comfort the living who are mourning.

Along with the Brahms, Alex Jones and the choir will perform Vaughan Williams’ Five Mystical Songs, an arrangement of poems by the seventeenth-century priest George Herbert. The five songs vary in style and the final one is the well-known ‘Let all the world in every corner sing’.
